Yeshiva Atlanta High School
Yeshiva Atlanta is a Modern Orthodox high school. Our mission is to offer a well-rounded Torah-based college preparatory education to young Jewish men and women. We embrace the ideals of Ahavat Yisrael, the love of all Jews, and the significance of Medinat Yisrael, the State of Israel.
- Modern Orthodox means that Judaism is integrated with the surrounding modern society. Modern Orthodoxy stresses that if grounded in Jewish values, this interaction is both desirable as well as intellectually and spiritually profitable. Modern Orthodox Jews are committed to Torah, traditional Jewish principles of faith, and customs.
- Well-rounded means all our students are exposed to and encouraged to reach their highest personal potential. In Judaics, students engage the classical texts of Judaism in their original languages. In secular studies, they learn a wide range of disciplines, including mathematics, the natural sciences, literature, the arts, and sports. Students come to appreciate the best of the secular world and integrate it into a Torah-based life.
- Torah-based means that the guiding principles and practices of Yeshiva Atlanta are grounded in halacha.
- College Preparatory means that all our students are part of a community of learners who strive for high academic standards in both secular and Judaic studies. They aspire to further their education at the finest universities and Yeshivot.
- Ahavat Yisrael means that we value and understand the importance of all Jews and encourage interaction and involvement in the Jewish community in its entirety.
- Medinat Yisrael means that we view the creation of the State of Israel as one of the seminal events in Jewish history. Recognizing the religious significance of Israel and its national institutions, we seek to instill in our students an attachment to the State of Israel and its people as well as a sense of responsibility for their welfare.
In 1971, Yeshiva Atlanta was the beginning of high school level Jewish education in Atlanta. We began as the only institution combining Torah study with secular academics for students’ grades 9-12. Over the years Yeshiva Atlanta has grown and adapted serving as a model of growth and expansion for other Jewish institutions in Atlanta. Many of Atlanta’s current institutions were founded and or staffed by Yeshiva Atlanta graduates.
Our students go on to be leaders in the Jewish community and exemplary students at top universities. Our students continue to grow and connect to their Jewish identity while becoming top professionals in the medical, law, and education fields.
We appeal to our students strengths:
Many AP courses offered — Yeshiva Atlanta offers a wide array of Advanced Placement courses each year. They include, but are not limited to English, Calculus, Statistics, Biology, European History, Chemistry, and Studio Art. Our students pride themselves on being able to attend academically competitive institutions and implement the knowledge gained in their AP courses to propel themselves forward in their college career.
Cutting Edge Technology in the classrooms — Our students leave Yeshiva Atlanta with the technological skills necessary to thrive in a world that revolves around technological advancement. We offer computer programming and videography courses, as well as having smart boards in almost every classroom. Our cutting edge technology enables our students to take courses from and converse with some of the top experts in Israel in Judaic studies and archaeology. As with everything else at Yeshiva Atlanta, our commitment to technology enhances both our general studies and Judaic studies programming.
Strategic learning program — Yeshiva Atlanta offers individualized learning services for those students who learn differently or need support in certain areas. We look at our students with diagnosed learning disabilities as a whole student, and not just their disability, and we capitalize on their strengths. Many of our students enrolled in the strategic learning program will “graduate” out within a year or two.
Competative Sports program — The students at Yeshiva Atlanta are given the opportunity to compete in many sports including basketball, baseball, wrestling, soccer, and volleyball. The life lessons that these students gain on and off the court help them become leaders and team players in all areas of their interpersonal development.
Arts Programming — At Yeshiva Atlanta, we appreciate the impact that the arts have on the lives of our students. We provide AP Art Studio and art and music electives We also have our annual performance each year which is completely written, directed, and produced by our students. It is very important to the Yeshiva Atlanta family that all students have an outlet; whether it be physics or exploring their creativity through another means such as the arts.
College Counseling — At Yeshiva Atlanta, our students go on to attend top institutions of higher learning. We offer a professional college counselor to help guide our parents and students through the application process in an individualized manner.
Imagining the next 40 years…
As Yeshiva Atlanta embarks on the next 40 years, we need your participation and leadership to thrive.
Continuing the tradition of providing a highly balanced curriculum is a priority for Yeshiva Atlanta. We are proud of our history and our roots, learning from the past in order to grow exponentially in the future.
While Yeshiva Atlanta is based on principles of modern-Orthodoxy we will continue to welcome students from the larger Jewish community. Yeshiva Atlanta focuses on inspiring students to incorporate their Judaism into their daily lives- thriving intellectually, spiritually, and socially.
Why leave a bequest or planned gift to Yeshiva Atlanta?
It is through the generosity of others that we are able to grow and thrive. Through your generous planned gift you will be able to ensure the continuity of academic excellence and a Torah-based education at the same time.
Who benefits from your tzedakah?
Obviously, our students benefit from your generosity, but the greater community benefits as well. Our graduates go on to become leaders in their own communities and give back themselves. Please consider including Yeshiva Atlanta in a legacy gift through your will or estate plan.Your gift will continue to benefit the greater Jewish community for generations to come.
