URJ Camp Coleman
For almost 50 years, URJ Camp Coleman has sought to enrich the lives of its campers and staff, by building Jewish identity, lifelong friendships, and personal conversations. As the Reform movement’s camp in the Southeastern United States, it links Jewish children, teens and young adults from communities throughout this region of the country. It has nurtured ties across the region, friendships throughout the years, and commitments to the Jewish community and Jewish people that now spans three generations.
Camp Coleman’s primary goal is to reach as many campers as it can and to run at full capacity each summer. In order to do this, it offers:
- A Compelling Program that engages the mind and body, and that appeal to a camper’s sense of fun and free-spirit while providing them with significant Jewish learning and experiential opportunities.
- Excellent Staff. The most important element in making a camping program successful is top-notch staff. Bright energetic and talented individuals, especially those who were themselves campers, are the backbone of the Coleman Experience. Coleman is dedicated to providing its staff at all levels (cabin counselor through camp director) with the necessary professional development opportunities as well as the programmatic resources to offer the most compelling program.
- World Class Facilities. Maintaining a campsite that offers a clean, efficient, and beautiful facility is a long-held goal. Coleman strives to not only provide the best in sports and recreational facility, but to offer comfortable, safe and environmentally sensitive living accommodations and campus for campers and staff.
- Access and Affordability. As a Jewish communal camp, Coleman’s primary mission is to provide a camp experience for every child and that his/her family that desires one. The key to this goal is maintaining affordability. While every family pays something towards campership fees, a significant portion of Coleman’s annual budget is dedicated to scholarship. Coleman must continue to secure additional resources to be able to sustain its scholarship program for all, regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
Camp Coleman invites you to be part of our future.
We are launching ongoing legacy and endowment efforts alongside our annual campaign and periodic capital campaigns. Endowments will supplement our annual sources of income and help us grow in the many years to come.
We are offering you, our long-time supporters, the opportunity to deepen your commitment to Camp Coleman and the Jewish camping experience. Create your Jewish Legacy today.
