Jewish Family & Career Services
What makes Jewish Family & Career Services the most unique and vital resource in our community? We are the safety net for those in crisis, AND, we are the sustaining support for ongoing challenges.
This Agency Exists...
For a family facing the loss of their home;
For the older adult facing the loss of their independence because of failing health;
For the adult with disabilities facing the fear of a future without parents to care for him or her;
For the individual facing the loss of a job held for 15 years with no options for security in sight;
For the individual facing the emotional trauma of a life-threatening diagnosis;
For the parents facing the painful frustration of a child they cannot understand;
For the refugee who is facing the reality of no home for their children within a matter of days.
What drives the success of JF&CS in our community? We address the immediate needs of these individuals and families with emergency financial assistance, caregivers, crisis counseling and practical resources. And, we provide the guidance and “tools” to ensure that they have the skills and support to regain stability, confidence and self-determination. In fact, the universal principle upon which we operate, agency-wide, is based upon the mantra: “Tools for Living.”
How JF&CS Works…What We Do
- Stabilize families in crisis, provide an emotional life line for those who have lost a spouse, received a diagnosis of cancer, or seeks the ultimate gift of adopting a child (Clinical Services-Tools for Life)
- Provide 24/7, life long, comprehensive services for adults with disabilities (Developmental Disability Services-Tools for Independence)
- Respond to immediate issues and long term care for older adults and their families (Aviv Older Adult Services-Tools for Aging)
- Offer a range of expertise for children and families coping with complex dynamics as well as single parenting challenges with a big brother/big sister program (Child & Adolescent Services-Tools for Families)
- “Rescue” newly arrived refugees with practical resources and long term solutions for establishing independence in Atlanta (International Services- Tools for New Americans)
- Counsel those who have lost confidence, train those who require new skills, and place individuals in real jobs (Career Services-Tools for Employment)
- Serve indigents and the working poor with comprehensive dental care (Ben Massell Dental Clinic)
For almost 120 years, JF&CS has addressed the critical and evolving needs of the entire community. It is the ultimate demonstration of the Jewish practice of Tikkun Olam, repairing the world. “If not us, then who?”
What makes this agency personal? We serve 30,000 each year in our community, one person at a time, with respect and confidentiality. Many of those served may be a neighbor, a family member, a friend.
What can you do? Consider the most enduring personal legacy possible by leaving an endowment or bequest to JF&CS. Such a gift represents an investment in the lives of countless individuals who need and deserve our help.
